    English fine scroll instructional set

Marcus is a fine instructor among other things. The DVD’s alone are more than worth the price of admission. Both verbally and visually he explains how to achieve the beautiful rose and scroll work that is so appreciated on fine guns. I can see why the 1st editions were bringing so much money on...

    English sunburst design

Thank you! I’ve been doing a bit of research on the design and the earliest gun I can find it on is a SxS Manton flintlock made in 1797. It became very common on English gun engraving from then to 1820. Thanks Richard

    English sunburst design

Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone knew the decade in the 1700’s when this sunburst design was first used on rifles or guns that were made in Great Britain. Thank you, Richard

Cheat Sheet for Checking Heel Length

Allen, thank you. My understanding from Allen’s explanation is a long heel for most straight long border runs and a short, 1/4mm, for most everything else. CheersRichard

My favorite also. In fact I really enjoy seeing and shooting English rifles of the late 18th century to about 1880’s. Just about finished building an English Sporting Rifle, flintlock ignition and have started on a Alexander Henry percussion target rifle around the 1870 period. Harry Kell would...

Beautiful work, you are very fortunate to have a good mentor and vice versa. Can you go into a detail on your system of layout and guidelines. I’d be happy to have a gun engraved by you. Thanks for sharing

Marius Mellebye - EngraverHand Designs and Artwork

Marius, thanks for sharing the stippling info. I increased the idle speed of my Lindsay palm tool and ground a HSS bit to a pencil point then put 4 tiny facets on the point with a 2000 grit stone and played with that. It made a very black field. Thanks again, would never had though of increasing...
