Im always curious to see how vibrations effect reality. From the silence of nature, to using metallica to torture prisoners at guantanamo, it always makes me interested to see harmony, and what that looks like for everybody. Alot of dissonance going on right now in the world and its been harder to zone out with all the noise.
I listened to the four seasons from vivaldi and went to town on some background removal, and that hit the spot for a moment. Ill check out some of the others posted here. For those who like some off kilter blue grass, i like the band the devil makes three, but ive got to be in the mood.
Hopefully this all struck the right chord, i know technically we all listen to metal, pun intended. You got a link for that playlist goldjockey?

There's a little one word link at the bottom of my post. "watch". Here it is again. Enjoy!

Several of you mention silence - It is no longer much of an option for me - I seem to have a built-in background noise that is not much fun to hear - tinnitus. At one time it reminded me of crickets or cicadas and was not too loud - now it more akin to a tiny chorus of screamers.

I agree with Roger on Baroque for relaxing yet "doesn't put me to sleep" listening. And an occasional Metallica or AC/DC.

What do you guys like to listen to at the bench to get you in the zone? I like silence when i really want to focus, but everyones got an opinion, so tell me yours!
For me it depends on the piece and the mood but I find myself listening to Omnia (neofolk music as well as Irish shanty type music) when I'm trying to get a natural raw creativity going, Lindsay sterling for when I'm really trying to get my flow going , all the old classics that are played on Ghost Riders in the Sky by Johnny cash (Pandora radio station) and sometimes if the mood is right il bump some hardcore rap when I'm having that kind of a showy day (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, etc..) and sometimes it's a Panic! At the Disco/ fallout boy kind of a day so it really varries

Same here Gordon. Those cicadas are pretty loud after many years of gunfire and other loud noises.

I have recently discovered, of all things Cossack folk music. I don't listen to it while engraving but I get a big kick out of the enthusiastic way they sing, their costumes, beards, and those big knives they all wear.

Was thinking about this thread tonight and wanted to post this. T'Monde "High Point Two Step":
Good music to remind us we're actually alive and well during a masked up, locked down, most craziest, screwed up, foolish, worldwide dumpster fire I've ever seen!

We meet every Thurs. nite from 4pm to 8pm in the neighbor's back yard. From 4 - 10 musician's show up and set up on his back porch. Neighbors bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the music, mostly bluegrass and old country. One oldtimer was the violin player in Bill Monroe's band, if anyone remembers who he was. Another is a 94 year old, WW2 vet who plays a mean steel guitar. Almost all were professional musicians in the past. We fire up the grill and have a pot luck to feed everyone.

I generally enjoy classical music as I don't have to listen to words (lyrics) and find it relaxing. But I also like some Opera and believe it or not a little bit of Janice Joplin. She reminds me of my misspent youth. ;~)

Anything from classic rock to heavy metal, old school country western, and some of the later music like offspring, Nickleback, 3 Doors Down, etc. for instrumental anything with primarily bagpipes or violins/fiddles.
