I decided to model my workstation in CAD to make a tool holder for 3D printing. It holds two hand pieces and 9 QC holders. There‘s also space underneath to glue in two magnets, but it clips in securely without them. I’ll Upload an STL to Thingiverse if anyone‘s interested, but it’s pretty specific to this drill press pedestal’s 14” table.

Also figured out a CAD trick with this. Print a small tab with the cut out booleaned from the pedestal first to check the contour to avoid printing the entire dish before you have the fit right.

Your design is nice and looks great BUT I would have designed it with the tools facing down.
This looks quite dangerous with all that sharp points so close to the hand pieces. Safety always first!

I'm with Leonardo. Yeah, points up makes 'em easier to identify, but you definitely don't want a steel cactus next to your vise. Also, those magnets are going to collect chips. Maybe a clamp or some 2-sided tape?

Overall, it's a slick little tool holder.

Maybe I’ll try a points down style for v2.0 with a hole for an m4 lug on the bottom to attach a clamp. The magnets don’t really do much anyway. The holder fits snugly enough on its own that if it was bumped hard enough to knock it off the magnets wouldn’t stop it.

and change your dang avatar pic, Billy, or i'm gonna end up with another half a dozen Jack Russells my life doesn't need! over the weekend a friend asked me for the breeder's info i sent her a few weeks ago. her son might be interested in one, so there's a chance i may be making a roadtrip on his behalf. i'll be lucky if i leave the place without a truck full...
