I wanted to share, and hope you can share with the engraving community, that the high bidder on Dad’s hammer collection ended up being one of his grandsons. That it stayed in the family is something that I think Dad would have been ecstatic about. And I can rest easy knowing that the family member got it for the market value, and not something inflated or deflated by my inability to value it correctly.

In the end, it was a Rohner who put more value on it than anyone, and I think that’s as it should be. I just hope the engraving community can at least try to understand the motivation for selling it in the manner I did. It wasn’t to make a bunch of money; with seven of us dividing the proceeds, the money is insignificant when weighed against what the collection meant to all of us.
