    1943 Copper penny...

I saw that the other day and with the condition of that coin, it has to have been in a collection somewhere. The condition is too good for it to have been in circulation since 1943.

    Hot Tip

Here in the south we don't have to worry about that much. I remember Rex Pedersen recommending a heated floor mat to me for keeping warm feet while working. I said this is Louisiana...I need one that cools :)

    This happen to anybody else?

My saddest engraving job was engraving Don Glaser's name on his cremation urn. It was an honor to do it for his family, but man it was tough.

10 things every Rolex owner should know

On a slightly different subject, here's something I learned about Rolex servicing and parts. I engraved a Tudor bronze that I purchased used. The bezel had a couple of chips in it so I contacted my Rolex watchmaker friend who works for an authorized Rolex dealer. He told me the bronze Tudor is...

Question before buying a grs airsystem

There's nothing wrong with building your own tools if that's what you enjoy doing. For the rest of us, we want plug-and-play so we can get to work learning or doing engraving.

Question before buying a grs airsystem

Daniel: you can sharpen with or without a power hone. A good way is to use a GRS sharpen fixture such as the Apex or EasyGraver fixture and use it ona whetstone or diamond lap. Of course a power hone makes it easier but it can be done perfectly without one. Engravers make their own sculpting...

    Any mistake can be fixed

I’ve probably made every mistake that can be made and only one wasn’t fixable, and that was a small gold charm with the name going down instead of up and it didn’t match the other charms. I had to fabricate one from scrap so that one cost me. The rest were fixable, or should I say disguisable.
