I don't think that vise will be stable enough for hammer and chisel engraving, you will eed something beefier

Engraving a chrome plated axe head

Actually, they want the main award design on the axe head and smaller plaques on the handle for each annual recipient...also chrome. i think I will pass on this one and suggest they sandblast a design into the head for contrast. thanks for all the input! Joe

Engraving a chrome plated axe head

I've been asked to engrave lettering on a chrome plated axe head that will be used for an award in the forestry service. I have not engraved on chrome plate, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this or if I should pass on it? Thanks! Joe

    BM 9mm

My sister was the firearms registrar when she worked for the Warren, Michigan PD. One guy came in to register a short barreled Uzi...he had to leave without it.

    BM 9mm

I bought one of these last year as a fun shooter, am also thinking about engraving it. does yours have the dot punched import number on it as well? and the 3/8 inch ground out circle from the Spanish police markings? I need to figure out how o eliminate them.

    Computer layout

I've used Corel since the '90s, originally for more artsy stuff, now mostly for engraving transfers and 2D designs for a small CNC mill. It is overkill, but who says you can't swat flys with a Buick?

Grs handpiece compatible with other mfrs?

A few years back I built my own air pulse machine (NOT one of the cannibalized air compressor machines you see on you tube) that used a digital timer and solenoid valve so that I could go from a single air pulse up to around 1,000 pulses per minute with my GRS handpiece. It worked fine. I'm...

Grs handpiece compatible with other mfrs?

They both use an air pulse with spring return, so I would think they would work.

    1943 Copper penny...

The kid who found the coin is the same person who sold it. He kept it for the last 70+ years.

    1943 Copper penny...

It was the discovery piece for 1943 off metal strikes in copper, found and removed from circulation in 1947. The article makes it sound like it was recently found in some kid's lunch money, but that isn't the case.

    1943 Copper penny...

The 1943 copper sold for $210,000. Being a long time coin collector and friends with some of the top people in the business, all I can say if you try to fool them is, good luck.

    1943 Copper penny...

The Denver mint example sold for 1.7 million because it is the only one from that mint. This piece is the discovery coin but there are about a dozen from the Philadelphia mint and should sell for 1/10 of the Denver piece. so what are you thinking?

    Anyone else have dry eye?

My problem doesn't fit into most of the suggestions, it happens all day long, windy, still, dry, or humid air (my day job is in a paper cup factory that humidifies the air), not med related, and only one eye. I started the Omega-3 today, we'll see what happens.

    Anyone else have dry eye?

I know, it sounds like it is when your eyes are dry, but it actually means that your eye produces too many tears because it is signaling the brain that it is dry. In my case, my right eye drops a tear every few minutes during the day and as you can guess, it doesn't make engraving very easy. I...

More on scroll design by Ron Smith

Hey, A few years back I purchased this book from FEGA and as I wasn't doing scroll work, it went on the shelf. While looking at it today it really looked disjointed and unclear, referring to things that just weren't there. Then I looked at the page numbers and it looks like the printer/binder...
