    Cirelli's Transfer solution

Since this transfer thread got started again I just wanted to mention one thing. If you’re having problems with transfers with whatever solution you’re using. I found only black pigment inks worked for me not cheap knockoffs using dye base.

    Cirelli's Transfer solution

When you mix it up mix it well, then let it settle. You can pour it off the sediment into another container or just use it leaving the sediment on the bottom.

Flat-top setting with carbide flat graver

Carbide flat gravers are great for cutting mirror bright cuts in gold. I just can’t seem to have any luck with a 40° face. The corners seem to chip very easily. 45° and 50° hold up good. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other carbides out there other than cmax and Lindsay and plain...

    Hand engraved cross

Just thought I would post this cross I made today. It was made from the customers scrap gold. It was poured in to an ingot, rolled into a bar assembled into a cross then I hand engraved it. I really enjoy doing this type of engraving. It lends itself well to jewelry.

    Sam's Codex Collection

I just want to say Sam's new reference book is a definite winner. It is one of those must haves like James Meeks , Ron Smiths and others. There is probable even a tidbit or two for the most advanced and a great armchair read with some of Sam's beautifully flawless illustrations. If you're a...

Engraved guitar for Gibson custom shop

Most of these guitars go to collectors many in Japan. Not many musicians will bring a 20 or 30 thousand guitar on the road. It would be to easy to get lost. A lot of design is dictated by the theme that is needed for the instrument e.g. maybe butterflies or art deco or just following with the...

Advice For Achieving Finish on Watch

You can get a nice stippled background as Old Gunsmith described. I would have to say the picture you posted that you would like to duplicate looks to be done by a machine or stamped out. I believe you may get the look your looking for with a narrow line graver using it almost like wriggle or...

    Grs power hone identification

This is my old one. It was purchased around 1985 and doesn't say GRS anywhere, but it is. It just sharpens kitchen knives and once and while a screwdriver and household items. It hasn't seen a graver for a while now.

    sterling silver jewelry care

What makes any silver alloy more tarnish resistant is germanium. So I believe any sterling alloy with germanium added will have adequate tarnish resistance. Argentine is nice because it can be heat treated to harden similar to white gold.
