    Critique Request Finished design?

Thank you again Lee for your help. I wish I had a fraction of your talent. With either a graver or pencil. I did my best to follow your advice. I need to either learn how to do better paws or better grass. Still a work in progress but hopefully better than my last post. Pics are with and...

    Help, please: Single scroll

I agree with Sam. #1 and #4 are best. #1 is either slightly humped at 12:00 or slightly flat between 1:00 and 2:00. #4 is really good and the only thing I can see is that the line is slightly thicker at the 12:00 position but I am stretching to find something wrong with it. Over all very...

    Critique Request Finished design?

Thanks Dave and John. I think I am ready to call it done. I’m sure there will be tweaks along the way but this is about as far as I can take it for now. I also need to thank everyone for your help and advice. I remember it was not too long ago when I claimed to be self taught. What a...

I see you point John. Interestingly I didn’t change the outline of the hump from the previous posting, just the shading. This one is reduced.

Thanks for the encouragement and votes of confidence but I was still not happy with the muscle shading. I’m not trying to draw it out but I only have one chance on metal and many chances on paper. I think this is better.

Wheuu,, so when cutting should I cut shading first and then spots? I think I could get better shading that way but was afraid the spots might look ‘placed’.

Mitch, I took out one column in the hind qtr, reduced the dot sizes in the mid section, lighted the dots in the under side and worked more on the head

    Critique Request Finished design?

Hi Mitch, it was interesting trying to adapt the pattern lines to a crouching leopard but hopefully it worked pretty well.

    Critique Request Finished design?

Spending a lot more time drawing than I thought I would but hopefully getting better and will be able to carry over to cutting. Lowered the rear honches and worked on the chin. Sam, let me know if I am chewing up too much space though and I can stop the progressive postings.

Thanks Mitch, lot of the pics I have seen also show size variation of the spots in different areas and some that are solid dark while others are darker around the edges. I have not found many engravings of a leopard broadside but I have a couple of books that I will look through.

Killed the over exaggerated shoulder blade worked on the nose and eye but still does not look right.

I did some shading on two of the animals and would love critique. Shading the loose skinned leopard is difficult. I feel like I need to overexagerate a little but don’t want it to look cartoonish.
