What you showed on a photo is a Swagelok type connection. It uses a cylindrical threads and two ferrulas under the nut. The nut and ferrulas are missing because once the wedge is installed you can not take it out. Another side is just a standard 1/4" NPT thread. It is up to you what you want to...
I do not know a situation with microscopes in Australia. here in the US stereozooms are available. Ebay is not only source to look. There are companies servicing scopes and selling old ones, surplus auctions wit used equipment from Universities and laboratories some local listings as a...
There is no simple answer to your question since both of this items are important. However a microscope is much easier to get because it is not as rare as a quality engraving machine/handle. I invested in a good engraving handle and a relatively old microscope. A microscope you can get for as...
There are several points regarding self made engraving setup I want to mention. I started my journey several years ago without much ambitions. I just wanted to engrave as a process and not as occupation. If you take engraving as a hobby - it is an expensive hobby and my budget did not allow...
Sergej Waltman, the real inventor of this machine, after first generation with a tire inflator attached the compressor to a flex shaft motor you can buy separately with a pedal. All you need to do is a small plate adapter that mounts on the motor and has threaded holes for attaching a...
Hi, Dave. Seems like it is hard to find. I just measured a thread in my Nikon SMZ and it is 34mm with 0.5mm pitch. I would suggest buying adapter from this thread to 48mm because 48mm is easy to find.

It is a popular model because once you took the head off it fits under the bench and has a round table. I got a...
Thanks, John. I was not playing with a gamma at all. I took the knife outside and made a picture. It can be either a wrong white balance or just a reflection from the wall. I will made another picture soon with more sophisticated light setup. Slava
Thank you everybody for yours expertise. This design is by far the most complex I worked on. It requires much more energy than an engraving itself. And all of that for a knife I bought at a gun show for $19. But learning how to make it properly is priceless!
This is what I have done at the end...
Marc,
Thank you for your time and remarks. I try now to improve the design and take into account all your suggestions. Right now I am working on populating the left side of the knife and filling the negative space. It really helps! Here where I am now. Slava
John, Thanks for the message. I will fill a negative space black and check it. I had a day without looking on the design and after your comments I look on it and I notice many places to improve that I have not seen before. It is useful to take a brake sometimes.
