i'm gonna chime in here. while everyone has good opinions, only you will know what is best for you. one of the best ways that i have stumbled upon to learn something(anything) is to pick a specific goal. usually a finished product of some kind. that might entail many aspects of a discipline...

Since the Jewelry Profession is related to Hand Engraving

there is a movement to appreciate labor(not just the fuzzy communist thing). unfortunately, too many people just wanna pay the cheapest possible. had a guy lowball me on a piece i did spec. he bought it even though i didn't budge. he hoped that he didn't offend. as a lifelong woodworker, i...

    Building your own vise?

"Where did you see in that ad that the vise is made in China? I could not find a country of origin." it's common knowledge among machinists and woodworkers that grizzly is synonymous with chinese made products. and people like me are the reason that you don't have a country of origin listed...

    Building your own vise?

don't want to start a flame war, but when you buy chinese, you put your neighbor out of work. if you can't afford an american made tool, then that means you need to save up. if you want to get paid a fair wage for your engraving, you should return the favor. just sayin.

Question: Any schools/courses for improving my hammer and chisel engraving?

i am an autodidact and tend to plow through learning new things by making many mistakes. obviously this forum is awesome for people like me. videos seem to be great and i have looked at a few online(that were free). my money is always tight and i have to adhere to a hierarchy of needs in...

Using acid to remove steel burs

i would suggest staying away from doing drugs while deburring. the acid might make it seem like it's gone, but the burr will still be there when you come down.
