Here we are less than 2 months away from the greatest gathering of Engravers in the world.
If you are attending look forward to an awesome show with over 50 table holders in the FEGA area. Including many Master Engravers, Professional Engravers, New Engravers and other artists. Vendors of engraving equipment being demonstrated and sold. Not to mention the fact that the FEGA show is smack in the middle of one of the largest gun shows in the United States, the Beinfeld Antique, Sporting Arms, and Knife Show in Las Vegas yet!
A chance to meet and enjoy the company of some of the greatest engravers. All willing to discuss their craft openly with anyone. Just setting among them and listening to their discussions is educational and fantastic fun. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
My adventure starts with flying from Virginia to Chicago then Vegas on Wednesday with my brother Steve. Tiring but fun in it's on way. Meeting up with FEGA folks Wednesday evening that we run into for meals, drinks and just visiting and catching up. This happens at the Star Bucks in the lobby of the West Gate hotel. This is also one of the "gathering spots" just to get together before meetings, show attendance, or going out on the Vegas strip.
Board of Directors meet on Thursday.
Show setup is also Thursday with many members assisting the officers and volunteers with setup of or area. Table holders all set up on Thursday as well.
Member's and guests can attend an open social gathering in the FEGA suite Thursday evening which may include some music and singing.
Friday the show officially opens and runs all day. The FEGA area includes display of all items to be auctioned at Saturday Nights Banquet.
Friday after the show is the official President's social is the FEGA suite. Most have dinner in groups at various restaurants in and outside the hotel. Again great time to socialize and get to know everyone.
Saturday morning is the Annual Meeting of all FEGA members. The Board of Directors present their reports, discuss issues brought before the membership, and have election of officers that are up for election this year.
After the meeting it's back to the show.
After the show closes for the day, everyone attends the annual banquet and auction. Good food and fun. Also presentation of awards.
Sunday the show opens again and continues until the end early in the evening allowing for tear down of the show.
Sunday evening usually includes an unofficial gathering of folks to "walk the strip". This include a tram ride part of the way and seeing many of the wonders to be seen. A stop for a meal is also usually included.
Monday morning is the free seminars presented.
It is a must attend to learn tricks and technics and after lunch break gathering for an open show and tell ask and learn.
After the seminars everyone breaks away. Some leave some prepare for Tuesday morning departure.
Steve and I fly home Tuesday morning and enjoy discussing the show during the flights and looking forward to next year.

From the humble gathering at the Beinfeld show in 1980, of 21 engravers called together by Roger Bleile, the wonderful FEGA show has evolved into its present delightful happening. I hope a large number of members can make it this year, the 39th gathering.
