I have seen a few threads (mostly years old) about Laser Printers and Toner. While I too, often use the transparency transfer trick for my own designs... occasionally it's nice just to use an old-school laser printer transfer. I have Brother Laser printers in both Santa Fe shop and in Tulsa. They both worked great (why I had two) for a number of years... but with toner cartridge replacement... I was having fits getting even the faintest of transfers to work. After much research (including threads on Engravers Cafe, it sounds like their new toner is more wax based and may look great on paper but doesn't transfer well with acetone. I know - I know - I have seen all the work arounds, but I'm too lazy for that. After reading additional recommendations by others here -- I broke down and got a new HP LaserJet M110w. I just got it up and running this morning, holding my breath for the first acetone xfer onto brass buttplate and... VOILA!! It is super-crisp/ bright/ easy. Now I'm planning to toss out the other Brother, and replace it as well. THANKS for those who recommended HP as a solution.
Using the HP original 141A Black Toner Cartridge. Just thought I'd post this as a solid choice for those who may be interested in an old-school solution.
