I was looking through the Summer 2011 issue of Guns of the Old West magazine today and noticed a small display ad for handmadegrips.com in Istanbul, Turkey. I decided to check them out and was amazed by their craftsmanship. They do use some CNC equipment to help shape the grips initially but then do a lot of hand inlay of gold, silver, brass, bronze, mother of pearl, etc. They advertise a two week production time with 100% satisfaction. And, their prices are reasonable besides.
There is a page on the website showing how they do the inlays. They mention that they also do some hand engraving although there are no photos of that being done.
They do utilize a lot of scrollwork in their various designs.
Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy checking it out: http://www.handmadegrips.com
Here are a couple of examples:
Smith & Wesson grips
Colt SAA gips
