You gotta hand it to the Renaissance masters for their cleverness. Michelangelo, after being insulted by papal master of ceremonies Biagio, claiming his Sistine Chapel masterpieces were more fit for a tavern or brothel because of all the nude figures, painted the likeness of Biagio in this devil on his Last Judgement fresco. Perhaps Giotto's devil was also the likeness of someone that got under his skin. It only took 500 years to find it!
