This wonderful new resource might have already been posted, but if not, a great start has been made in accessing high resolution exploration of exhibits in some important museums, mostly paintings, but also some sculpture and artifacts. Don't we often wish for more high res, well now you can get it if your want to browse the history of art:

Thanks for pointing this out. Go to the Metropolitan museum and scroll to "Parade Burgonet by Fillipo Negroli." What a masterpiece of repousse, chasing and engraving. I really admired that helment when I was last at the Met and wished I could examine it closer. This system lets you examine it in minute detail.
