Question for Sam Alfano re: spring weight in GRS handpieces

Sam, a few days ago you mentioned that you use the light spring in your 901 handpiece. Would you mind discussing what you get and what you lose by using a light spring versus the standard spring in your 901? Is the answer any different for the Monarch? I'm not sure if there is one for the Magnum handpiece or why you would want it.

I don't use the Monarch any more and don't remember if it comes with standard and light springs like the 901 does. The 901 does everything I need.

The standard spring has plenty of power. More than I need for my work. The light spring really enhances the startup for fine shading, etc, and the sacrifice of power is a good tradeoff for me since I don't need so much power anyway. With the light spring I can do deep relief, punched sculpted work, inlay, and have sweet low end for the finest shading I can do. If I were doing channel setting or western brightcut I would need more power, but I rarely do those things so the light spring suits me fine.
