I have the squirrels ready for raised gold inlay, I think. Is there anything you see I need to address before I screw something up?
Thanks, Leland

Thank you all. I have not seen the overlay talked about before that will help a lot. I have been practicing on a plate with fine silver trimming it back after inlay was my biggest worry.
Thanks again.

You can make a smoke print that will be exact. Instead of putting the tape on paper, stick it to some sort of clear film- acetate, mylar, whatever. Be sure to clean the inlay cavities well after the smoke.

Sam, I did and have your method and Mitch's ready. I can index both with the scrolls. The way I tried your method with what I had was put block printers ink on the scroll and taped a piece of transfer sheet over the scroll and scene. then rolled over it. I got a good enough pattern to index and the outline of the squirrels.
How should I have done it?
Thanks

Alright Sam I get it now, your method actually has a mechanical index. I now have 3 different overlays.
I should be able to make it work.
Thank you all
