Raymond J. Wielgus (1910-2010) and his wife gave twenty five of his engraved firearms to the Art Institute of Chicago. Here is a stunning 1911, click his name on the page and you'll see the others.


I don't believe any of these are currently on exhibition, but the Art Institute has a phenomenal collection of arms and armor, taking up several rooms. Be sure to visit if you come to our lovely city. Much of what they have came from what remained of the old George Harding Collection (which went through a sad number of years after Harding died, the story was that the the trustees selling off pieces to pay themselves large salaries; then the collection sat locked away in storage for years until the Art Institute negotiated to get the collection).

fantastic comes to mind. tyvm for showing this. it must take forever to go thru the museum to appreciate all that is there.
