Hey all
Ive been slowly working on my skills as a new engraver and have been farely successful at it so far. I would like to think that at some point I want to continue to challenge myself and it seems that doing Relief or Sculted engraving is my next step.
Does anyone have information about what is involved, what tooling I would need and how to go about designing such things?
Ive looks at Sam's short reels and it seems that the designing may be the same, although the backgrounds are much more deep. Also, it seems there is a "stippling" involved to aquire the sculpt look. Is there polishing afterwards? Is there side cutting and deep shadowing cuts involved?
Let me know your thoughts or, if you can give me some past forum posts, that would be great too.

Thanks!
Tim

I would suggest getting the videos from Sam Alfano on these subjects. They are excellent and well worth the price of admission. Available at masterengraver.tv.
