Trinocular Setup

Hey All,
Just got a Nikon SMZ10. I like it a lot and it’s a big step up from my old and dirty AO. That said I’d like to make an adaptor for the tri so I can use my camera on it. The camera is a nice point and shoot and when powered on has a 40mm front tube. The tri tube is a tad smaller so I can’t get the camera lens right on top of a 10x22wf eyepiece that I’ve dropped in the tri. When I look through the eyepiece, the image is exactly as the main eyepieces.

I’ve done some YouTube and google research and my attempts at getting the camera to both focus AND have a full image appear on the camera display have been for naught.

The parts I have are pvc pipes and couplers , cheap harbor freight loupes and a canon sx730 hs. I do have a lathe so I can turn some parts but I want to have a cheap proof of concept before I experiment with my round stock supply.

Anybody made an adaptor and have tips?
