I recently sent in an inquiry to Allen in regards to his efforts to update the FEGA Handbook. This was work bench setups or types. I use the drill press column and table that raises and lowers by a hand crank. I love this method because it keeps me in the same seat and microscope positing for different applications or items that are in the vise. I have attached a few pics of my setup and a PDF from Grizzly MFG on the items needed to purchase for such a set up.

I use an identical setup, for the same reasons. I extended the "arm" that the table attaches to with a piece of heavy (1/4") wall steel tube and longer threaded shaft to replace the bolt, moving the table about 10" away from the vertical pipe. More room for stuff, and a handy place to put the micro-motor.

if an idea works-- no reason to spend mega bucks on a ccomercially available unit.

A complete breakdown of the parts of a current Grizzly Shop Fox bench drill press will be in the 2025 FEGA Hand Engraving Handbook. The old FEGA How-To Handbook, from which the new handbook was developed, was 98 pages. So far, the 2025 handbook is well over 300 pages and climbing. It has been expanded to 23 major sections and 6 appendixes. We are still a couple of months at least from having it completed. We have new contributions from around the globe, as well as the original content that is still relevant [a few tidbits were dropped because referenced conditions have changed or products are no longer available].
