Thank you Sam!… was afraid the ruger would be hard to cut making it difficult but so far it cuts well.

Thank you Marty!… when I get a chance I will post a pic of the layout design. There are still some areas I’m still not happy with but overall I like it.

If you are like me, better ideas will pop up as you work on it. While I have designs for each area when I start, better ideas come as I progress.

This is the design I like best so far, still there are a few (several) elements that will probably get tweaked/ refined and or changed as I go.

I have done several Ruger Vaquero and found the loading gate and the recoil shield to be hard as glass. How did you deal with those parts of the gun?

Not there yet, but I have heard the same… if anyone has some advice would be helpful and appreciated.

First off, thank you for sharing your designs.
I have done quite a few frizzens which are quite hard. I have the best luck using a wide angle graver with a dubbed point or a Lindsay bulldozer point. I make multiple passes going slow with narrower angles used on successive passes depending on desired depth. Sometimes hammer and chisel work better than power.
I came up with this method after engraving some cast iron and carving stone.
This is what works for me, your results may vary.
