Anyone have any tips or tricks to help with “tennis elbow”?

Update; after seeing a doctor I was told it’s a “repetitive stress injury” and not tendinitis. I guess I’ve been going too hard with drawing/tattooing/engraving. Doctor prescribed rest, ice, and ibuprofen.

wear an ace bandage on forearm a couple inches below elbow inside joint. most places that sell ace bandages sell one for that about an inch wide with velcro like wrist ace.

I am not a doctor and you probably need one. I went to physical therapy for tennis elbow several years ago. The main thing she stressed was keep your elbows close to your torso when working and stop if you feel pain starting in the elbow, wrist whatever stop don't continue and think it will get better. It worked for me so far.

What helped me- soup can.
Laying on my side -arms to my side, elbow bent. Lifted the soup can up from the bed and back down... amazingly effective.

That’s interesting because I notice more pain when my elbow is touching my side. It could be that my issue is more related to tattooing. My doctor told me to get some voltaren and to rest.

The best thing I’ve done for overall health that really helps with joints, tendons and muscles is a carnivore diet. Keto is also good. My tennis elbow, and neck pain is gone. Try it for a month. Dr. Ken Berry on YouTube has very informative videos on it.
I’ll give that a shot, I’ve done keto a few times and my body reacts very well to it. I can definitely eat bacon and eggs and avocados every day haha.

As it was explained to me tennis elbow is caused by the difference in strength difference between the muscles that open your hand compared to the muscles that close your hand I wrap a stiff rubber band around my finger and thumb nails and open and close my hand a few times a day and in a couple of weeks pain is gone. Works every time for me. Good luck. Dave

I needed to put ice on my arm for 1/2 hour every day. Plus stretch the muscle by extending my arm with my hand up and pushing against a wall 15 times then again with the hand down 15 times. This needs to be done at least twice a days or more. You will need to do this for months. Cortisone shot will relieve the pain but it will come back. Good luck.

Fellow tattooer here, with about 20 years of chronic tendonitis. There are a couple things I’ve done that have made it possible for me to continue working. First thing I did was to get a compression band. They are made specifically for this issue. It’s a wide band with an air cushion in one spot. It’s designed to put pressure on a specific spot to open the space where the tendon glides between muscles. This can really help to reduce the friction on the tendon and allow the inflammation to go down when you can’t avoid using that hand. Also, changing your hand position, and hand motion while tattooing can make a huge difference as well.
Other things would depend on exactly where the pain is. When you lay your arm out palm up, is the pain on the outside, or inside?
Outside would be from to much wrist extension (toward back of hand/outside) and inside would be from to much flexion( bending wrist inward) I’d be happy to go more in depth if you want to dm me.
