First time trying to do background removal and shading, along with a couple of borders. I figure another 5 years and I may get this down. Doesn't look too bad from about 5 feet :)
I really need to go to a class later this year.
The best transfers I get start with cleaning the plate very well with acetone. I then make my transfer with plain paper with a HP laser printer. Mix 20% Damar varnish with 80% lighter fluid. Put a couple of drops of the Varnish mixture on the plate and evenly coat the plate using your finger...
Thank you JJ. I am using a Pulse Graver, 116 degree graver, with a Lydsay turntable and vice. Haven't been doing it very long. Getting started late in life at the age of 70.
After doing a practice plate I can now go back to trying to learn to cut decently. Tight turns are extremely hard for me as my graver control is bad and the tip digs in. Back to cutting circles and curves. I am glad I am a patient person so practice does not bother me
I am just starting out and was wanting to see if I am cutting right. Still working on graver control and need a lot more practice. I've only done around 60 plates so far. Using a PulseGraver.
