Does anyone know who would have engraved this Winchester 9422. No signature on it that I can see, unless it’s under the wood.

That scroll work, Layout and design, looks similar to some of the factory Winchester engraving. If you look in the book, Winchester Engraving by R.L Wilson on pg. 394 there is a very similar layout. To my eyes the quality of the inlay is also similar to factory work. Of course an independent artist may have been asked to replicate that kind of work. I'll bet Roger will know what's up.

JJ Roberts' point about silver inlaid animals is a valid one, however, the photos are too poor to get a good look at the scrollwork. The scrollwork is the key to identification. A larger and well-lit image will be needed for proper attribution.

Lonzie 55, Is there any engraving on the barrel? the Japanese engravers engraved scrolls on the barrels of shot guns and rifles. J.J.
