I have no beef with the vise per se. I use microscope, and for the turntable I use shimpo. The whole thing is a bit unstable and many times the vise has turned to the side with the pressure of the graver.
So:
1) I want to switch to a heavier vise
2) I want to get rid of the shimpo
So both of...
Hi,
I'm currently working on cheap vise and I was thinking about upgrading to a better vise.
I was thinking about Steve PalmControl TrueCenter CamLock but from what I can see, it next to imposible to buy one.
Are there any good alternatives to it? Other vises that have that centre by lever...
You don't need a class but:
- Figuring things on your own, or with youtube/books will take much longer. If you want to do this as a living it is better to save yourself a trouble and go for a course.
- If you want to do it as a part time job/hobby then most of the things you can learn on your...
Thank you Leonardo for that insight. I think what I'm more trying to figure out is if I'm slow or "normal" with the speed of the engraving at this point.
Hi,
I'm wondering am I too slow in my engraving.
I have recently engraved this zippo, total time of engraving around 9-10 hours.
Cutting of the outline and leafs took me about 1-2 hours. Background removal and stippling took a lot - 6 hours. Shading around 2 hours.
I have watched and read that...
Sure no problem.
Red line indicate the part that is cut and designed wrong. I forgot the flow in that part since leaves where so close that it blended during that transfer and I forgot about it during the cut.
I think the green lines shows wrong flow of the design.
Blue line - too wide, it...
Hi,
I'm always open for critiques, so no worry. I know that the mid ending leaf has lost it flow - I was to hasty in cutting and missed it. :( But thank you :)
Just finished engraving a dog tag.
Now I'm thinking what will be the best place to post it for sale. What are your expirience with etsy? Or perhaps you would advice me to to look elsewhere to sell it?
I like it a lot, but for me there is something odd with the background. Like, it is not even, some places it looks higher - is that the issue with the paint, or am I just wrong?
That Nikon looks interesting. Can you say how it stands compared to EMZ-5? I'm thinking about changing EMZ-5 for something that is triocular, but Leica is to expensive, and that Nikon is somewhat in my price range.
I bought used meiji emz-5 and it works great. Last year I was able to work for a few days on a cheaper microscope, and I do not recommend it. It was (the cheaper one) fine for like 1-2 hours but after that is gave a bit of bad feeling to head. I think for a start meiji emz-5 is fine. Now I would...
I'm almost sure the bezel engraving will have to be change to something simpler - like a running leaf patter or something simillar. The more I think about it the more I lean to opinion it is too complex, but still I'm gone at least try to engrave it as a flat practice engraving on a practice...
It took me a long time to see the skull, and something seems wrong when I look at it. Not that it is not correct anatomically more like....proportions and composition thing.
