New to a few things in this project..
First I finally got to experiment a little more with my XTool D1 Pro 20W laser.
Works great for transferring on steel, copper and aluminum with the infrared head with thin and clear lines. Still need to try on brass and silver..
So what’s better start...
If I were you I would try to look for a good priced Meiji EMZ-5
It´s a very good scope with quality lenses you can have for years. I was lucky and got one for $350 from eBay. They are usually priced more high, but if you have a little luck and time it should be possible. I can use it a full day...
My Meiji EMZ-5 Uses 10X eyepieces and a 0,5 Barlow lens. That´s also what my other microscope uses..
I dont know the EMX-1 very well, but I´m not sure if it´s well suited for engraving. It does not have any zoom from what I can see.. so if you buy 5x eyepieces you get 5x zoom, and if you get...
Also another thing, when working with more hard metal I make more teeth´s especially in the beginning and the end.. in the middle too, but I want to make sure it sticks at the first hit, unless I´m just making a lot of extra work for myself. Just to make sure :-) Also depends a little if it´s...
I have been playing a little with silver, copper, brass, gold and rose gold.. all fine except rose gold, which is extremely hard. Even brass is easier.. but might be because I did not anneal it well enough. But I know from others that anyhow good it´s annealed, it´s going to be hard! :-)...
Hi, looks fairly good to me to be your first attempt :-) Looks like you have been using copper wire by wire and then often you can end up with these "holes" as copper works hard very fast and are difficult to "blend" together... but still pretty good :-) Now try to make a thin outline around...
You´re probably right and that´s why I´ll be looking for a 2nd hand one.. just to make sure I got one that works. The ink will most likely still be produced for years to come :-)
I love any rainy day when no need to go outside the house, just playing.. a little something to try to learn a little more about light and shading.. maybe over the top but quite fun and relaxing :-) for me anyway.. drawing humans is not my strong side, so a silhouette will have to do.. if I...
I can only confirm what works for me.. as for laser printer I use an old HP LaserJet P2035. It can print in maximum 600 dpi so it has some limitations, but works well with acetone transfer and printing on parchment paper (I have to tape the parchment paper to the printing paper) and use damar...
A classic can do it all.. I have several classics, PalmControl, Chasing Air Graver, Classic with collet nose, a Nitro.. but a normal classic would be my first choice if I only had to choose one. They’re great and you only need a small compressor. They don’t use much air..
Anyway, a powerhone...
I have never really used the GRS sharpening system, so I cant say much, but I have more Lindsay templates that I´m ever going to need.. including several onglette, which I use.. and there is many more. :-)
I sharpen everything from square Lindsay blanks and some by hand.. I´m learning to high...
