For me, squares, flats, rounds, liners, and custom made ones as needed. If i had to give up one, it would be the liners.

Thinking about it, for 98% of my engraving I only use 5 tools:

115º
90º
80º for bulino
Scorper for lettering (aka 'flat' but made from square stock. I must admit to various widths though)
bent liner for background removal of English large scroll.

Like Monk says, if one had to go it'd be the liner
