I try to come up with creative titles, don't mind me :)

Here's my next practice Zippo. It took total of 16 hours to complete. I learn by motto "Imitate, then innovate" and right now I try to imitate different styles of design. See, no spirals?

What you people think about it? And most importantly, what did I do wrong with design and/or execution, what could be improved?

Good design, great execution!

I can only see two things I would change:

1) I don't see that you signed it anywhere - this is good enough you need to have your name / logo on it.

2) For some reason the upper 'tentacles' give me a touch of a 'Call of Cuthulu' feeling (H.P. Lovecraft if you've never read it). Don't know why, just something about the way they're reaching up like that.

I'd say you've made a Joy for Ever. ;)

in the land of Scrolls,
I'd say I don't see anything wrong with it from a design or an execution viewpoint. Bravo! especially for a man who has been fasting for how many days now? ;^)

Steve, thank you for kind words! Yea, it seems that I have to start thinking about putting my name/logo on my 'works'. Those tentacles actually bother me a little too, I think I won't use this actual design on any other pieces. But at least on the right side the tentacles form nice "V" for my initial :). These Zippos I make are excellent for practice - they have large area for design, cut well and seem to sell well on eBay too. And now I have one more book to check out...)

Scott and Mike, thanks! Fasting starts when I receive the credit card bill, but so far so good, still alive and scratching metal :)
