I´m only posting this because I know how much Brian likes flat beads...not
Well they are kinda triangular shaped bits left after drilling are they not.

You've got a good memory Chris!

I don't think I've made that remark on the forum more than once or twice in 9 or 10 years?

You never saw those "flat" beads until the advent of power assisted engraving tools.

Budding stone setters who have never used a hand beading tool where you rotated the tool as you rounded up the bead, never know any better.

They (and their teachers - unfortunately) simply push up some metal and squash it around a bit. Then call the result a "bead".

To me, mashed beads, with metal flashing extruded outside the perimeter of the tool - are ugly and definitely unprofessional looking.

Sadly, that's mostly what you see nowadays. The days of the taller hemispherical, well formed beads are pretty much history...

Nothing wrong with your triangular beads. Simply not common, and few setters have even seen them before. Or tried using them.

Nice to do something different once in a while.

One of those castings with beads cut into the wax model & slightly too small stones...didn't fancy marrying the problem of fixing every ring so I figured this'll work better.
Yes I pay attention to what you say :)
