I recently was asked to do an engraving demonstration at a art festival. I didn't think people would want to just watch me cut so I went with transfer techniques. This is the piece I used to show wax transfer to try and maintain symmetry.
This was the first time in a long time I sat down and thought about what goes into engraving. It seems like after so many years I just did things without thinking about it, just part of the deal. From polishing to drawing to cutting then transferring around the piece. Then cutting background, shading, finishing. Sure is a lot that goes into this.

we all know this but seldom think about it. the process, for me, is "automatic". i guess that is the value of practice to improve on each sucesive job. it just "happens"
