In response to the question…. “How hard is it to engrave a gun?” The answer: some are much more difficult than others.
As an example, Here’s A Colt Diamondback with flush sculpted acanthus scroll. This style of scroll is most typically seen either flush cut or in relief with conventional shading. I decided to amp things up a bit and sculpt (using small punches) the entire pattern. In this technique, there’s absolutely NO room for error. One punch blow outside the lines & it’s ruined….and,….that certainly adds to the degree of difficulty!! Flush gold inlay & a French grey finish complete the job!
