I was asked to make a Nickel Silver Hand Engraved Pick Guard for a Customer who collects Fender Guitars and I am almost finished I thought I would post it and see what you guys think. And yes that is a Rose Bouquet that I am learning to draw and cut from Marcus Hunts Drawing book and DVD Thanks Marcus I hope it does not look like a cabbage.

I agree with Willem. That is very nice, Bill. I especially like the border, and the bold lettering is fitting for a Fender. Your banner is very neat and clean.

The only other observation that I might make is that the large area of negative space just above the banner seems to catch my eye, drawing my attention away from the banner. Maybe that is just me, but I think perhaps a small blossom placed there, and a smaller one in the negative space to the right of the banner might give your overall design an improved balance without making it too busy. A bit of "outside work" around the florals would allow them to relate to one another across the distance. Just a thought. Ask someone who knows more about composition than I. Perhaps Marcus will advise. If you do a quick sketch you will know what works best for you.

I really enjoyed meeting you in Vegas and look forward to future conversations.

very nice.i'm currently doing one of aluminum. only deal this guy wants "futureistic" design that i'm quite inexperienced in developing. worst of all, a gadget font is wanted on this resembling electricity. your design is clean and uncluttered. a very pleasant look you have done there. thanks for showing.

William, Thanks you for your comments. I am trying to improve my flower designs within my Engraving so I appreciate what you say about my flowers. I have gone over Lee and Marcus study sections on flowers and I practice drawing them. this is my first big flower piece.

Hey Mike long time no see. i really enjoyed my visit with you at the FEGA show and look forward to next year to get back together again. As for the negative space I was going for a real simplistic look in this design I really struggled with not adding to much as this was a keep it simple design with some elements that I wanted to stand out. also if you think go a guitar this plate attaches right under the strings and that upper portion with the negative space is under the strings. Any way it was my first Pick Guard. I have another one that is fabricated and ready to engrave I will go all out with it. I am planning a Design that has allot of the gun elements on it It should be real interesting.

Monk thank you for your comments also . Instead of doing the pick guard in Aluminum Have you thought of fabricating it out of Nickel Silver. it is not real expensive and it cuts real nice with the right gravers.

If you noticed the name Mikaele was engraved with Sam Alfano / Diane Scalese directions on the double bright cut It really sparkles in the sun
