Hey everybody. I registed a while back but haven't been on here in a good while. I was wondering if you folks would be willing to take a look at a gun I have? And tell me if anybody had ever seen, heard, or could possiblly tell by the work who might have done the job.
I have researched through the Colt archives, and found out that it was not a facory engraving. They also noted that a total of 6 guns where shipped out together ( this one and 5 others). It's a 2nd Gen. SSA 45LC with the name, birth date, and death date of George E. Lord. He was a Surgen with the 7th Cavalry under Custer, and was killed at the Battle of Little Big Horn. I am out of ideas as to where else to look for any info as to who did the very nice job on this gun. You guys just may be my last hope.
Thanks for any help you might be able to pass on.
