ak-47 stamped receiver- will be asked to do a celtic cross and short inscription. cant test for 2 weeks till it gets here. anybody ever do the stamped version. saw nothin on the engraveable list either way

I would think judging by all the eastern block firearms that I've seen that it would be soft as pie.
With that said there is about a million different factory's that produce AK's.... each having different standards for parts and materials.

Sent you an eMail last night. Found some quick info that stated that the receivers are about 40 Rc, and select areas of the receivers are heat treated only in those areas of moving parts, like rails and some of the holes. Also, some moving parts are heat treated, but that won't effect the engraving. Selective heat treatment makes sense, to avoid cracking. If the to-be-engraved area isn't near hardened areas, it probably wouldn't be a problem.
