Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps...it was 1956..I was 17 and I joined the US Navy, I was on my way to Boot Camp at Bainbridge, MD. The 1st day we were introduced to our Company Commander an ex-Marine Drill Sergeant who switched over to the Navy, and was now a Chief Petty Officer. He informed us that we was going to get us in shape, and make men of us within the next 8 weeks...he kept his promise..we had the best drill team in all four regiments. When people ask what branch of the service I was in I jokingly say, I was in the Naval Marines.
