Hello everyone. I spent the day making a new wooden block. It weighs a bit over 25 pounds I filled it with lead shot I just hot glue my practice plates to it and if I need to I can drill and tap holes for bolts to hold stuff I need to take on and off. I hope to get a real vise win I get better :happyvise:

Not many of us up this early on a New Year's day. If you add 3 Teflon pads around the wood "tire" it might spin easier than just wood on wood. Looks rather nice. You might also look for a small machinist's vise to mount on the top.

Good idea Sam I thank I may have some Teflon washers left if not I will get some. I was at grizzly the other day and looked at there vise's I like the centering vise they have I didn't thank much on it tell I read your post that wood be killer to add to this block. I thought at first it wood make it to tall but if I was to route out the top and set it down in that wood solve that. Thank you very much for the ideas. Happy new year

Thank you. I used it a few hours last night it worked
I am new to engraving and have never got to mess with a real vise so I don't really no how they are .so far this has worked best for me. I tried a bench vise and didn't like it at all I hope to sale my truck soon and get me a nice set up and hope to have some left to go to engraving classes.

kinda purtty! look up "madole pilot wheel vise" in the tips. adding a few dowels around the edge may make this much easier to use.
