Has any one had experience, with inlaying platinum into 14k gold? I have never worked with platinum due to its cost. I am not sure of how hard it is or how fast it work hardens, or how it compares to the 14k in hardness. However, I may have a project coming up where I will be inlaying some type of silver colored metal into a solid 14k buckle. Your thoughts would be appreciated, I don't want to go into this blindly. Thanks, Brian

Brian,

I have done Platinum inlay into both 14 and 18K gold

The only thing you really need to make sure of is that you use PURE fine platinum and not a platinum that has been alloyed for jewelry.

Keep your undercuts in the bottom 1/2 of your channel adn you should be fine.
