L.W.Seecamp pistol

Has anyone engraved one of these? The newer ones are made from 415 series stainless. 415 is fairly new stuff and rumor has it that Ruger uses this material in the barrel and cylinder of their Red Hawk. Seecamp has no phone number on their site.

hi Chris .. I never heard of that gun but the 400 series of SS steel are usually good stuff to engrave and gold inlay, I would not think you would have any trouble with it .. I just recently engraved one of Rugers new pistols it was SS steel and cut just like 416 SS. keep us posted .. ron p

Hi Ron!! Hope all is well.

Thank-you .... that definitely helps me in taking this one on. Just want to be sure before I say "sure". I've sent a couple of e-mails to Seecamp and have received no response so far. They recently switched from 17-4 to 415 and I know that 17-4 is pretty tuff stuff. I'll be in touch soon.

UPDATE..... Alas!!! Seecamp emailed me with the following:

"The pistols are around 45 Rockwell C and will engrave like 416 stainless at the same Rockwell hardness."
