I would like to try engraving before I spend a lot of money. I have hand tremors and it was recommended by a professional engraver from online to try it first.
Is there anybody in the East Idaho area that would be willing to help me out?

Thanks for your help

welcome to the forum. please go to the tips section of the forum. there's info there just for someone starting out. i had a head &hand tremor. for about 4 years i had to back away from fine hand engraving.
i found i was a candidate for dbs. 2 electrodes were inserted in my brain, along with an adjustable pulse generator implanted in my chest wall. guess what-- no more tremors!!!!! go see a neurologist.

Google Ernie Marsh and John C. Ennis, both in Idaho.
Also put " silverchip" in the search box above and pm or email him.
Go to a local gunshow and ask an old timer.
Weldon47 is putting on a 3 day class in Feb. for the basics of hammer and chisel. Search box also.
There are several near Cody (Jack Smith) & Sheridan (Don Butler). Billings (Shawn Didyoung).
In other words, yes, they are out there.
Jonny Weyerts, down in Alpine , Texas, has a good little school that I would reccommend.
A buddy of mine has the tremors, but when he starts to work, his hand steadies down.

Get Ron Smith's(Ft. Worth) book before you go any further and learn how to draw a simple scroll.
Being able to do that will show initiative and may get you a second meeting.

#1- Bill Johns in Cody has some equipment for sale as he is trying to retire. He also can help you, as well as Ernie Lytle on the Yellowstone hwy just before Wapiti.

I hope to be in Durango this summer and you're welcome to cruise down and work in my shop (one-piece, hand forged spurs). I'll have hammer and chisel, as well as an air graver. Todd from Tennesse may drop in around August and with Bo Bonds and Bud Winborne we might even have "The 1st Maybe Annual Rocky Mountains' Engrave Out!".
EVERYBODY has an Engrave "In". Colorado is too beautiful to be "IN ! ".!
Get my buds to bring over a string of horses and we could have a trailride in conjunction with a little western collectible/ engravers trade weekend! Plenty of fresh elk, courtesy of the Ute reservation. :beerchug:
Feel free to holler for help anytime.

You should seek specialized legal counsel and sue for malpractice misdiagnosis!

In your case , untreated "Shakes" :beerchug: can sometimes be fatal!

cowboy : say as ye will-- the surgery has been a blessing for me. i advise anyone with this ailment to see if they're a candidate for the surgery ! as with any invasive procedure, esp on the brain, there can be serious consequences. i was willing to assume that risk, and am damn glad i did !

I have looked into that but decided against it.
Maybe Obama care will pay for it?

mine was a mere 136 k bucks. thankfully, due to past employment, this procedure was available to me. not sayin it was without pain or discomfort, but the result is worth it to me. ever try to keep jello cubes or peas on a spoon in a restaurant ? not a pretty sight.
