Motorcycle engraving on HD derby cover

Hi folks, here's another engraved H-D derby cover. I had some problems with creating enough contrast on the aluminium & the background blackening is not as dark as I wished. On the last pic I added some extra contrast. Maybe I can add a little (oilpaint) black in it, however.... this job took me tooooooo many (way more than enough) working hours already! Shading around the letters is really nice. The letters really pop. It's a piece that will make any bike owner proud.

Your scroll style suits the subject perfectly. To me this looks much better than the normal scroll designs often used on Motorcycles. Good stuff!

I think the lighter charcoal grey background gives it more of a real silver tarnish look.... Beautiful work.

I'm very interested in motorcycle engraving. What kind of graver did you use if you don't mind me asking? Any tips or tricks for engraving aluminum? Your work looks incredible...

Thank you all for the nice compliments! @ mcengraving: I used all kind of gravers & techniques for this aluminium piece, the same gravers as for engraving brass, bronze, steel etc. Mostly HSS, 1 or 2 carbalt. Techniques: H&C, push gravers & air assisted
