Newbie (who loves this site) needs advice on transfering a cut design repeatedly along a line.

I have cut a design onto a SST scale between the "0" and 1" inch markers. Now I want to copy that design between all the remaining inch markings. I am not sure if I should try a smoke pull or use printers ink somehow.

Any ideas would be very welcome.

Marlon,
There are a number of successful ways to transfer a pattern. With that in mind, here's what works for me. When I'm duplicating designs like the one you mention I use tape & fingerprint ink. Pat the ink on the pattern where it covers and is tacky but not heavy enough that it gets down into the cuts. Lay a piece of frosted scotch tape over the pattern and rub it with your finger, then peel off & stick it down where you want it. It should be pretty easy to index on a scale with marks already on it like the one you describe. After you stick it down then gently lift off the tape. Lightly dusting the surface with a little talc will fix the transfer so it won't smodge and will also help the design to show up a little better. This gives a "negative" transfer.

Hope that helps,

Weldon

I tried your approach last night with printers ink, and it worked great! I will get some finger print ink going foreword.

Thanks for the advice!
