Once more heading back, first to Scotland, to complete the 'tent folding' of my Scottish workshop, as well as seeing pals and family.
After that, maybe some time in England, and on to the Continent for a bit of rural walking, perhaps visiting some colleagues in both the engraving, and flute making trades, and of course flute customers.

For once, I am going over on a one-way ticket, so as to be free to return when I want to, early or late, and from any city. I am always so pressed for time when I have a definite return ticket.

I will remain available online, and do not mind giving my email:

rcameron@mcn.org

I hope to post now and again, with something of interest, and would consider visiting colleagues that might be close to my travel paths ... if they are willing. Always interesting to meet up with forum names, and discover the person behind the avatar.

It could be, when I do final sorting of my Scottish tools, I will lay out and photograph my engraving related items, that I would be willing to sell, just in case they might interest U K residents. The main items would be a GRS Gravermax, and a ball vise. I may also have a pretty good milling machine for sale.

All of this brings a mix of emotions. On the good side, future visits to Scotland would be about enjoying the landscape, rather than looking at it through the window of my workshop. On the sad side, saying farewell to tools that have been in my hands for more than 28 years.

Stay tuned ...

Rod

Change is always difficult. It would be sad to leave something that has been such a part of your life. An anchor that holds you to the old country. I am sure it was a difficult to make the decision to scale back to a single work shop. Well visits home may be a little less stressful. best wishes and have a safe an wonderful trip (s) Fred

Hi Rod,
Dont miss the chance and meet Frank and see where he works. That is an amazing company and a museum as well.
Do you come to Austria too? If so, please drop me an email in time!
All the best, Martin

Thank you, Mark, good buddy!

Martin,

I do hope to get onto the Continent after essential work and family visits in Scotland, probably not before end of May beginning of June. I have long wished to visit you in your home town, so I will certainly email you direct, and trust there might be a time when you are in residence that might work!

Yes, I have enjoyed an exchange of friendly emails with Frank, and do hope to be in the Zurich region, so I will not fail to take up his generous offer of visiting his workplace.

Best wishes!

Rod

Hey Rod,

I know I'm in the extreme South of England, so doubtful you'll get down this far, but if by any chance you do, feel free to drop by, it would be great to meet you.

Also curious to see what engraving bits you might have up for sale. Don't think I 'need' anything, but that's never stopped me before! :)
I've always had a hankering for a mill! ;)

All the best,

Jo

Jo,

I am quite fond of the south coast region. May do a little more work in Oxford and visit the Cotswolds again, so not too far away. I will stay in touch, it would great to meet up and get a sense of your wider interests

à bientôt peut-être
