Print your own money, I have but a few things left to show and say that I feel are of importance. One of those things is about prints pulled from your engravings on steel plates. Here is my first, middle and the last print. The last was a present to my wife and was cut with a burin. The middle was executed with a liner while working a gun show. The first was cut twenty five years ago when I finished ten months of school at Giovanelli’s in Italy. It has been printed many times and many times over repaid my labor in cutting it. I cut twelve plates in all and each made a profit. The profit in selling your own prints is excellent, and any Junior College with an intaglio press can ink the plate and pull the print. I am sure that some members of the Café know much more than me about the techniques of printing. Mine were done by a professional for a reasonable cost and the plates were free at the local sheet metal shop.

Joseph -

Thank you for your posts. I have waited for them with considerable interest. You have made me think, re-consider, and examine. The work you have shown has inspired me. Thank you. By the way I used to live just over the mountain and through the Teton Wilderness from you when you were in Cody. I lived in Dubois, Wyoming.

Joseph,
I know very little about printing and the art to make the plates. The dog is so alive it feels like I must be able to hear him breath. Oh, I like to do that one on leather. Franca's print catches a romantic elegance that draws my soul into it. Fantastic - I love it. Thanks so much for sharing.

About Joseph's prints, I have a couple of them myself. we traded them years ago and they are treasures to me. Another idea to go along with what he said...........often times when I did an exceptionally long project where my client would turn me loose without restraint, I would give him one of my prints, signed and numbered as an appretiation token. This does wonders for client, engraver realtionships. Prints are cheap and easy if you have someone that will print them for you. They can earn you some expense money too, and help defrey the cost of travel etc......Good advise joseph, how's the fishing???

They also make interesting diversity on your table display at shows if you have the space............

I purchased a print from Ron Smith at the FEGA show many years ago and it has hung in my shop ever since as an example of the best work and the many styles of scroll incorporated in it. If you can get your hands on one you will treasure it.

Hello Rodger,I have always held Rons prints in great esteem
an agree with you. I think the cafe members would love to see his prints. Ron last week the big Dorado are showing up and so are the Sailfish and the tourists. In a couple of more weeks I have to go to work catching all three of them. Thanks Joseph.

Hey Roger, how are you doing? Haven't seen or heard in years what and how you are doing. Good to hear from you.

Good luck on your fishing Joseph. Catch one for me!

Ron,
I have been working in the shadows you might say. I have been a member of the guild for all of these years since I called the first meeting in Vegas in 1980 but for the last 25 years I have held a corporate job and engraved as a hobby. When I retire next year I will be able to do more engraving. I recently discovered this site and can't thank Sam enough for what he has done here. This is great!!!
