At some time somebody must have restocked the gun with a pistol grip style stock....the original trigger guard tang was cut (just ahead of the screw) and welded back together... the end of the tang was rounded to the present configuration....the tang was also bent for a pistol grip confguration...
The present owner of the gun is in the process of restocking the gun with a new straight grip stock and needs the trigger guard tang reconfigured for a straight grip stock....
I have no problem with making a new tang extension, welding it on to the trigger guard and matching the engraving pattern....I just need to know what the shape or profile of the tang is and approximate dimensions
I looked on some of the gun auction sites and found pictures showing the tang on staight stocked Purdey's (see attached photo) Is this shape correct?
I can up scale off the photo's and come pretty close to the actual dimensions of the tang but if I could get a tracing of an actual tang life might be easier...
I want to thank you all for responding to my previous post....any help is alway's appreciated
Marcus what is the rectangular lug on the top of the trigger guard on the left side for?....
