I used to own one and considered it but never got to it, I did search for pictures online and there are some. So I would only suppose that they should not be that hard but not sure.

Is it stainless? Some Ruger stainless is beyond hard and other R SS is nice to cut. For example Red Label and Gold Label shotguns are tough, but Vaqueros are nice. No. 1s are hard, too.

Thanks for the reply's .... The Google photos looked to be factory rolled stamp engraving and others were beginner level poorly engraved examples.
I am still hoping that someone in Cafeland has had first hand experience with this model.

Thanks again,

What stopped me was the slide, at least for my piece I felt the dang thing to thin, and I was carring plus p rounds, could be nothing just my opinion, yes before you scold me, ruger does not recommend plus p, so lets not steal this thread. Let us know how it goes, and let Gerry Beathard know sonhe could add it to his list of engravable guns.

Saludos,
Carlos

I cut one using cmax 105º gravers. I broke more than a few tips doing running leaf patterns, but it isn't the hardest thing that I have tried to cut. Still it was more work than I think is worth on such a low end gun.

I cut a blued one with c-max 90 degree graver. 60 degree face and 25 degree heel. Pre microscope days. Cut easier than a new vaquero. No problem with broken tips. Dubbed tip and heel on fine ruby stone.
