Are the pins the only way you guys use to attach horn caps? No wood screws or bolts w/threads cut into the casting?

Or are the pins just to keep the cap oriented "right side up"?

Never used pins much out here on the West Coast. Sometimes we put put one in for orientation, but with threaded bolts that was rare.

Brian,

Before I did my own silver I went with the center screw, it seams if you tighten it down to its max the horn cap is off....... there was always a lot of extra drilling involved to get it just right....... since I make my own silver I use pins and epoxy, easy to keep the horn cap aligned just right and so far none have come off.
