Your scaner may be scanning at 200 dot per inch. If so, You need to change that to 72 dot per inch on your computer image. This is what happen when I scan something. Hope this helps. If not let us know.

Cody, can you tell us what software you are using. Likely there is someone on the forum that is using the same and can provide the help you need.

Gary, I use paint to size my pictures. We have print master but I don't know how to use it.

Joe, how would I change the DPI?

Cody,

Before you print the image in Paint, open the "Page Setup" window (its in the upper left corner "file" pull-down menu) and set the scaling in the lower right corner of that window. Be sure the "adjust to" dot is clicked -- it gets filled with a colored dot -- and type in the percentage size you want to print the picture. When you are done, click the OK button.

Then reopen the "File" pull-down menu and click on "Print Preview". You should see the page as it will be printed. If it still looks too big, adjust the scaling and preview again. Print it when it looks good to you.

See if this helps.

I would not adjust the scanner dpi resolution if you are getting a good looking scan -- not too many jagged edges, etc..

One of the best things that I have found to reduce the size of drawings is to go to a UPS store and use their copier ,use the mirror image section and reduce the drawing as much as you need. It works great. All you do then is cut the drawing out, tape it to your engraving and swipe it with asatone and you have a great image to engrave. Please excuse my spelling. Have fun,Loyd Freeman

If you have the program word you can size your pictures there. Scan the picture you want then save it. Open the word program and import the picture. Click on the picture and you will see several tick marks apear about the picture. Click and hold on one of the corners the move the tick mark in to the size you want. You can copy this image and past it several times on a page. It works real slick. Give it a try see what you think.

If you have Microsoft Publisher, you can insert the picture and use the "ruler" scales to size the image to the desired size. I did just that with an image I printed on a transfer paper and burnished to a money clip, and the size was exactly right.

Mine came with the Microsoft Professional package program. I don't know if it is included with Windows Vista available now. Maybe if you're looking to invest in more programming, look at the Mac system. Most engravers seem to be leaning toward Mac and I'm considering one when my system fails.
