Here's a great ring that I scratched all over recently. The jeweller (rubycrush.co.uk) was over the moon with it. I thought it didn't turn out too badly either. It needs some finishing work but this is what it was like when it left me. Unfortunately there's a couple of little bits of laquerstick on the ring that I didn't notice til the ring had gone back to the jeweller

Marcus, that is certainly out of the box. It looks like the skull has a doo rag on. Really cool. :)

:tiphat: Wow, that's pretty cool, Marcus:thumbs up::thumbs up:! The bare original skullring looks nice, it seems to me it's one of the few more 'realistic' castings that are available on the market, and ...good enough for a beautiful engraving!! I once bought a unique sterling skullring on the internet, made by Dave's Custom skulls http://www.davescustomskulls.com/E-Bay-Mini-Main-2.html, all unique handmade rings! My ring was one of the last series the shop's founder Dave Caruso made himself, just before he passed away after a long period of illness. Maybe, once my own engraving gets good enough, I will carve my ring with a nice decoration, too. Keep up the great work! :beerchug:Greetings, Paulie

Love it Marcus, I can imagine those are "micro scrolls" and so are the leaves. As to me looking at them at this size they look detailed and real skull size big.
But I know the size of a ring :big grin:

That's way cool.

I guess that's how a real engravers skull will look like after lifetime of scrollwork...

Thanks for you kind words guys. It was a fun project and hopefully we'll do some more collaborations in the future.

Julian Lamb, the guy who made the ring did a fabulous job. I think he originally trained as a model maker and took his skills into the jewellery field. The detail he puts into the rings is incredible; each one of the tiny teeth for example. He also makes portrait rings which are fantastic; his Hendrix and Elvis rings are superb. You can check them out on his website.

Our wives both said it first, that the engraving looks like a bandana, is that what you meant by a doo rag Tira?
