I was fortunate to attend my step-niece's H.S. Graduation in TN this year. As a gift I told her that if she would like a bracelet and helped me with a design, I would love to make her one. After several sketches were emailed back and forth we ended up with a final design. I'm awaiting her ideas for an inscription. I've had limited success blackening engravings with paint. For this piece I used "liver of sulfur" and 5000 grit paper. The piece is 16 gauge Sterling, 5.5" X .5". I can see where several of my cuts ended a "tad" short and I'm not thrilled with the shading on the ribbons with the vine pattern? I'm half tempted to scrap this one and do another with "plain" shaded ribbons throughout? Dan

Looks great!!!!! Don't change anything! Back off for a few days, you've been working on it too long. In a few days you'll have an overall positive impression of it.

Thank you for the kind words. My step niece loves it along with the fact that she helped design it. I just have issues with the execution of certain cuts. With my bright cutting I'm used to "popping" out at the end of a cut. When I switch to single point in sterling (which I do less often) I find that I often times "pop" out my cut prior to where I should (instead of terminating one cut "inside" another? Along with the ever present elbow or two ...:) Back to the practice bench...Dan

Dan,
Very cool design, that's awesome. Nothing wrong with it the way it is, but if you're thinking of a do-over, Sam has a great tutorial on crossed ribbons on I-graver.

Learn from it but don't toss it, no way. She's going to love it. It always takes a while to get your 'hand in' working in a different metal like that... so don't be too hard on yourself. You've made one very very cool bracelet. Congrats

She will love it. Ribbons on the end look good. The scrolls in the center ones need work in the future. You already mentioned the elbows. They will get better with future attempts. I love the overall design.
